Pop a cork in Pompano Beach
By GABE BERMAN

I'm basically a gin-and-tonic type of guy, but lately I've developed a taste for a variety of vino. On the lookout for a wine I hadn't sampled, I stopped at J. Mark's Restaurant & Bar, at 1490 NE 23rd St. (Copans Road) in Pompano Beach. It has a renowned, out-of-the-ordinary wine list, and I knew that bartender and wine connoisseur Ashley Kester would point my palate in the right direction.

Knowing I prefer white, Kester saved the best for last and filled my glass with a Fume Blanc by Ferrari Carano. How did it taste? Crisp, light and fruity and obviously not at all ferocious as a Ferrari. It was more like a convertible Bentley with its top down but with a Buick price of $8.95 a glass or $36 for the bottle.
